Fitness workouts can consist of two main types. These are cardiovascular and resistance training workouts.

Cardiovascular such as running, walking or aerobics. Basically anything that gets your heart beating faster is cardio activity.

Resistance training: This training involves weights or weight machines and is ideal for muscle toning and also for fat loss. You actually burn alot of fat when lifting weights or using resistance on certain parts of the body, so this sort of fitness training should be incorporated into any weight loss plan. Weight training workouts can also be much shorter than cardio workouts with just as many benefits.

Have you heard of fitness boot camps? This is when people go off for a week or more to be put through the paces in an army style format. We'll discuss the pros and cons of this sort of program in our boot camp article.
